I dont know if this is better or worse than writing a review about a sequel. I mean, it is the first book, however, the problem is that this IS a spin off series, and you have to read the first series (vampire academy) to fully understand this one. This book got a 4.28 on goodreads and in my opinion deserved it. It was a really good and deserves to be read and apreciated. Here comes the summary:

This entire book i was just waiting for Dimitri to appear. That was my goal. Because Dimitri is my life. And I’m sorry if i spend half of this review talking about him, but I can’t help it. Anyway… where was I? Ah yes. I was waiting for Dimitri to appear and when does he appear. THE LAST SENTENCE OF THE ENTIRE BOOK!!!! I’m sorry Richelle Mead?? What is this??? Do you want me to throw a tantrum on the subway? It seems like you do! Now I’ll just be waiting until the next book so I can see Dimitri and Adrian battle to the death over Rose. Because you know imma be rooting for my Dimka. So anyway. To the topic of the book. Like Vampire Academy, it starts out slow… and rather boring. My initial thought was “Why is this not Rose?” which is a bad thought to have when reading a book. Anyway, Zoe bothered me from the start. She was being really mean to Sydney who was just trying to help her. I mean, I know that I wouldn’t want to have my life taken over by some strange organization who will have control of me FOREVER! And don’t even get me started on Keith. I will try and refrain from mentioning him at all in this review because I just hate him THAT much. So what can i say that doesn’t involve Keith. Well, we can talk about Micah. And how creepy that is. The moment he mentioned red hair I was like: WHAAAATTTTT ITS MASON!!! GUYS ITS MASON HE’S BACK FROM THE DEAD!!! Only it wasn’t Mason 😦 But both their names start with M.. huh? huh? nothing? Well. Never mind then. So also I wasn’t really expecting the whole “Adrian brought Jill back to life thing”. I always thought she knew how he was feeling because of his ability to talk to her in her dreams. And maybe that day she was accused of having a hangover, it could have just been the sun affecting her. However, that was not the case. APPARENTLY, Jill died in the attack, and Adrian saved her. I was all like WOAH DUDES!!! I never really liked Lee, he was too old! And stop! Before you judge me, I know Dimitri is older than Lee, but Dimitri is the exception. HE IS ALWAYS THE EXCEPTION!! And i had the right not to like him. Because in the end he ended up being evil. SO WHO’S LAUGHING NOW?? #JESSIEJREFERENCE I need to stop being so dramatic over books. But who else i there to talk about. I mean it wouldn’t be vampire academy unless there was a love triangle. Eddie. I feel sorry for that poor guy. But he cant help it he’s in love with Jill.
UGH!!! THE DILEMA! I need to talk about the tattoos but i can’t talk about them without mentioning Keith!!!! I mean, if i mention him once or twice it wont hurt that much would it? No? okay then! I was really curious when Julia and Kristin asked Sydney if her tattoo made her smarter. I mean, what kind of tattoos make people smarter? But then Trey started saying that some of the football team had them to make them better and stronger and then the whole mystery was unwinding. How does one put steroids into tattoos, also how do tattoos get you high? And then Adrian and Sydney figured it out. Vampire blood… buuuut… i thought it was vampire saliva that made you high… oh well, i guess vampire ‘fluids’ would work too. And dont even get me started about how i knew when Sydney walked into Nevermore and the guy saw her and was like “OMIGOD IM SAVED” I knew it was Keith (forgive me for mentioning his name, I’ll just call him hwsnbn (he who shall not be named)). But my question was where was hwsnbn getting the ‘fluids’. And then, the next time that Sydney went to visit Adrian, it hit me. Clarence! I felt really sorry for him because i really liked him. 😦 And i was sooo happy when Sydney turned hwsnbn in, because honestly, I just hated him sooo much.
Lets end on a happy note shall we? DIMITRI HAS RETURNED!!!! Now I can have some closure and not spend the rest of my life wondering what he is doing at this moment. I MUST READ THE NEXT BOOK NOW!!!
