The Vampire Academy series is one of my favorite series of all times. It has everything you could ever want, drama, evil, frustration, scenes that make you swoon. Its the real deal, and some people have told me that the first two books were okay, and then after that they just got better and better, but when i read the first book i was so amazed that i was just like “It gets better? AWESOME!” I really loved this series and i think that the title really doesnt do it justice. Just because it is about vampires, doesn’t mean it resembles twilight. I mean, ill just name you one stories that resembles twilight that doesnt have vampires in it *cough* obsidian *cough*. Anyway so this book got a rating of 4.19 and the summary is as follows:
St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger…
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.
Sooooo!!! It took me a while to get into this book. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it, but only after the first 50 pages. The first 50 pages were just… not the strong point of this book. At the beginning, all we see is that Rose and Lissa have a really strong bond. And that they’re running from someone. And then it already gets interesting. This is where we meet god on earth. Dimitri. *cue swooning* Honestly i could just spend this entire review discussing Dimitri’s perfection, but i feel that most of you would stop reading after the first sentence. SO Here we go. I eased into the story when they arrived at St. Vladimirs academy. I liked seeing from Rose’s point of view, more than i think i would have liked seeing from Lissa’s because Lissa seems a little too perfect for my taste but i liked how Richelle Mead incorporated the bond phycic thing that let us see through lissas point of view even when she was alone. So the first bit is a little boring. We meet all of the teachers and the headmistriss and Dimitri! And we find out that rose has to have special classes with him because she is behind on all her classes since she was gone for two years and then we meet lissa’s uncle. Viktor, who has some sort of disease that causes him to age uncontrollably or whatever. But he’s worried because Lissa is the last member of her royal family and he needs to protect Lissa so that she might one day inherit the crown, because the vampires are a monarchy. So we start the school year, nicely enough, everythings going we- oh wait… no… Lissa’s got in trouble… Dead animals in her room… ooooohhh, not good. and Rose has to help her. no surprise there… So now LIssa’s suicidal. and she decides that she should go shopping with her cousin Natalie, and Viktor, and of course, she invites Rose, and then Dimitri has to come too. WHoop WHoop! SO they’re shopping and they’re in a store and Lissa notices a dress that she thinks would fit Rose and Rose is all like “Nuh uh i cant try that on im on duty!” And then Lissa’s just like “Then we’ll just buy it without trying it on. And then weg go to a jewelry store andLissa see’s a necklace with a diamond rose pendant on it and she’s like “ohh oohhh ROSE… YOO HOOO!!!” Rose I MUST GUY THIS FOR YOU!!!” But then Rose is like “NUH UH THats too expensive” nd then Lissa’s jjust like “Oh yeah that is expensive and then they leave because the necklace really was too expensive. When they get back Rose is about to go but then Dmitri finds her and is like. “I got you a present” and then he pulls out a tube of lipstick and Rose is just like “OMIGOD!!! How did you know!” And he’s just like “Guardians ecret!” and then Viktor gives her the necklace she and LIssa were looking at. I swear all this was much nicer and more dramatic in the book, but im not really in the mood . Then some crazy stuff starts happening. They go to the school dance and Rose is wearing that dress that surprise surprise FITS HER and then they run into Dmitri and he’s checking her out and Rose is all like “NAWWWW!” And then they go to the dance, and they dance, and then Rose gets this sudden urge to go and make out with Dimitri. and so she follows her instincts and goes to Dimitri’s room and starts kissing him and hes like “Whait, what?!” and she’s like “Dont you line me?!” and hes like “I do!” and then they make out. Untill its time to take off the necklace that Viktor gave her. WHATTTT?!?! The necklace has a spell on it that makes rose want to make out with Dimitri!? WHaaaat?!?!? And then it turns out Lissa needs to be saved. So her uncontrollably agin g uncle has kidnapped her because she has the ability to heal her. But she gets saved and all is well. Untill Rose goes back to DImitri the next day to confess her feelings and he’s just like! It was only the spell. I have no feelings for you! And then rose dies a little bit on the inside! As do we all. But there is that little fire of frustration that keeps burning in the deep dark pits of our hearts. Filled with both love and hatred for dimitri!
Sorry for this sarcastic review but i really needed to write one because i havn’t in a while.
